Padmashree Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology was formed in the year 1996, affiliated to Bangalore University and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. First, the Padmashree Charitable trust was started in the year 1994 with a vision of establishing an organization working for social causes that lead to the establishment of Padmashree Group of Educational Institutions and one of them is Padmashree Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology.
Padmashree Group of Institutions has 20 years of record in academic excellence. There were only 25 students in a single institution at the beginning of the year 1996 and today, with an impressive process with 10 institutions Padmashree has been nurturing more than 2200 students. It specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases using the clinical laboratory tests. It offers job oriented training programs in Plant Tissue Culture, Molecular Biology, Quality Control, Animal Cell Culture and Cand preventionlinical Research, etc.
Padmashree retains the honor of having started BiodHRona an exclusive placement cell for biotech graduates and a Biotech Finishing School with the approval and support of Department of Karnataka. Medical Laboratory Technology is an Allied Health specialty concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases by using the clinical laboratory tests. Though the Medical Lab technologists spend less time with patients than doctors and nurses, medical laboratory professionals are just as dedicated to patient’s health. The truth is, practice of modern medicine would be impossible without the tests performed in the laboratory.

- Two years Pre-University examination or equivalent as recognized by Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Pre-Degree course from a recognized University considered as equivalent by RGUHS (Two years after ten years of schooling), with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Any equivalent examination recognized by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- The vocational higher secondary education course conducted by Vocational Higher Secondary Education, Government of Kerala with five subjects including Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English.
- Candidates with two years diploma from a recognized Government Board, should have passed 12(10+2) with Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

The Institute is offering the M.Sc. MLT course affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences from September 2006. MSc in Medical Laboratory Technology course focuses on work-based experience and provides career-planning support and life skills development.

- B.Sc. in Clinical Microbiology/Medical Microbiology are eligible to join for M.Sc MLT in Clinical Biochemistry or M.Sc MLT in Microbiology and Immunology respectively.
- Completed B.Sc MLT through correspondence course shall not be eligible.
