Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health was established in 1984, as an autonomous organization registered under Karnataka Societies Registration Act of 1990. This institution is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Health Science. It is stationed in its own premises next to National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Science at South Hospital Complex in Bangalore.
The Indira Gandhi Institute of Child Health offers both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. This Medical College as well as the course in this medical colleges is recognized by the Medical Council of India. The objective of this arrangement is to flourish manpower for health sector while contributing the necessary knowledge and skill to assure the quality services in the pertinent training program that implies employment opportunities. Bachelor in Medical Laboratory Technology is an undergraduate Medical Laboratory Technology program which aims to provide with the aspiration of sufficient knowledge and skills to carry out routine laboratory and some sophisticated laboratory diagnostic procedures. This course deals with the advanced management in laboratory equipment and other instrumentation. This consists of 3-4 years’ course, where students completing their diploma level and +2 students completing their course in science (biology, physics and chemistry) can apply.
